Energizing Kapha
If you're feeling lethargic, congested, dull, or foggy-minded your kapha dosha is likely out of balance.
When our Kapha is out of balance, we feel heavy. This creates a slowness that can manifest in our body as excess mucus, a cold, or unwanted weight. If not rebalanced, lethargy and stubbornness can grow so much that we even find it hard to get out of bed. At times like this, we need to avoid what weighs us down. We need to literally, as the saying goes, lighten up. We seek out what stimulates and energizes. We avoid the heaviness of meat, wheat, dairy, and sugar. We avoid too much oil, including from nuts. We focus on light grains such as millet, buckwheat, and rye, and favor spices and ginger. Non-sweet vegetables are great, like greens, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, peas, and radish, and the same for less sweet fruits, like berries and cherries. Mostly, we have to get ourselves moving. A more energizing Kapha Dosha Yoga flow will open the channels and stimulate the metabolism. A balanced kapha dosha is a wonderful attribute -- we feel stable, and filled with love, courage, stamina, and forgiveness.
