Cooling Pitta
If you're feeling a little irritable, or angry, or perhaps have a rash or other skin condition, your fire dosha, your Pitta, is likely aggravated.
The fiery Pitta dosha governs our metabolism, digestion, thought processes, and temperature regulation. When our Pitta is balanced, digestion is healthy and efficient, sensory perceptions sharp, and our brain works quickly and precisely. When our Pitta is out of balance, we can experience irritability, inflammation, skin problems, and digestive issues. Since a Pitta imbalance is created by excess heat, the simplest way to return to balance is by cooling down. While we’re cooling down, we avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and even nightshades. Instead, we favor cooling foods like cucumber, celery, apples, watermelon, aloe vera, dates, coconut, or rose petal jam. Some simple self-care also helps reestablish balance. Try a light self-massage using Pitta Cooling Body Oil before your shower, or a cooling Surya Dosha Yoga flow. You'll feel the cooling effects immediately.
