Perhaps you’re feeling it now. A sense of belonging. A surrender, not to someone else, but to the music of the world, of your life. Grateful, energized, creative, at peace. All three doshas, harmonized. This tridoshic balance might seem like a lot, but we’ve all felt it. Perhaps after a warm bath has calmed our Vata. Or a good hike or yoga class or spin class has broken through our sluggish Kapha. Or a sunset walk on the beach, and all the heat of the day is gone. This is Ayurveda at its simplest and truest. Balance. It’s built-in, if we can only learn to listen. And often, we do -- when we’re cold, we put on a coat. When we’re overwhelmed, we say, give me a minute. When we find ourselves more irritable than we desire, we find a way to “chill out.” But we don’t always listen. Sometimes, our irritability turns into anger, and our Pitta dosha, more aggravated, takes over. We want that hot sauce. We reach for a drink. Or we burn it up in a boxing class. Low and behold, our Pitta aggravation grows still worse. Unless we listen. Ayurveda is like a simple bell, a clarion call, an outward expression of our own inner voice, our own innate wisdom, amplified for us to see. When we’re in balance, we’re fine -- a little of this, a little of that, all the pleasures of life. But when we tilt off, that’s when the wisdom of life can remind us, guide us, and help us stand true again. To be balanced, we must feel, and listen. The real voice of Ayurveda is within us. Meaning that the goal of our journey... is right where we already comfortably are. The practice of Ayurveda can help us remember. So that we can then live from that place of ideal balance.
